a specific area of intervention
Development of tourism falls within the statutory power of the local authorities who have handed it down to the Community of Communes which is a grouping of local authorities (town and village councils) and was created in the early 2000s.
Today, the Community of Communes includes 10 municipalities: Calmels & le Viala, Roquefort sur Soulzon, Saint-Affrique, Saint-Félix de Sorgues, Saint-Izaire, Saint-Jean d'Alcapiès, Saint-Rome de Cernon, Tournemire, Vabres l'Abbaye and Versols & Lapeyre.
A PUBLIC STATUS
The Community of Communes has the statutory power to decide whether to create a Tourist Office, choose its status, and determine the tasks entrusted to it and the budget allocated to carry them out.
In our territory the Tourist Office was given a public status by the elected members of the Community. More specifically, it is a corporate governance board with legal obligations and financial autonomy responsible for the operation of a public service of an administrative nature, which allows it to have a certain autonomy (independent budget, administration…)
Consequently, our office is subject to the same rules as public authorities: public accounting and review of the legality of decisions of the deliberative body.
